Cone-Beam CT is an essential prerequisite for any dental implant placement. Decades ago, implants were placed freehand using only 2D imaging. However, with the widespread availability of 3D imaging, the AAOMR recommended in 2012 that a CBCT scan be conducted before any implant procedure. This allows for a clear 3D visualization of the implant site and surrounding anatomical structures.
Since then, 3D imaging has advanced even further. Today, we cannot rely solely on slices and measurements of the osteotomy site. We must go beyond! Digital techniques such as guided surgery, 3D segmentation, and the superimposition of additional scans, as well as functional registration of patient movements, help make implant placement and subsequent restorative treatments more accurate and personalized to each patient’s needs.

In this webinar, we will explore the current applications of CBCT in oral implantology and how new digital tools and artificial intelligence are enhancing the planning process.
